What do you believe exactly?

I prayed for it, I worked hard for it, I hoped for it. It needed to go well, it had to, I did all the right things and all that I could – I am spent, literally. But I didn’t get it. So God where were you, and how could you let this happen? Nothing makes sense right now…

It occurred to me that when things don’t go our way, that’s the only time we question everything and then I realised that the real question is; do you really believe in what you said you believed or was that just something you believed because it was convenient at the time and it worked every time like an ‘if – else’ excel formula?

You shouldn’t be rattled if you know that what you believe is the ultimate truth, because the truth cannot be circumstantial, it's a constant. If you believe that hard work pays off, then maybe when you did work hard and it doesn’t work out - that’s an opportunity for you to rise up again and really show that hard work is persistent. If it was your faith that you applied - then it’s the opportunity for you to truly exercise that faith, to say that no matter what I still believe that God’s plan is to prosper me and never to harm me, and that He will never leave me nor forsake me so even when things were not going my way He was with me and I can still trust His plan. If you’ve always comforted others by saying that for every cloud there’s a silver lining and that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel and that everything happens for a reason; then now that you didn’t get your way, isn’t it the time for you to take your own medicine and stand by those words?

Not getting our way means that we have to confront our own truth. Did I really believe that everything happens for a reason, and that all things work together for my good, or were those all things I said just because they were convenient at the time? The real question is who are you? because if you authentically believe that everything is working out for your good, then you should not be questioning anything at all right now - so consider that maybe it is you that you’re second guessing, and not the constant.
